Scientific
research has shown that each diver in average destroys 10 gr. of
coral during each dive inadvertently. This means: in the waters of Sharm el
Sheikh every year 14.4 tons of coral are destroyed! Here divers an non-divers alike must follow some rules that have been established by a commission of experts to protect the environment in the sea and on land. Supervision of these protected areas lies in the hands of park-rangers who control and make sure that all regulations are observed. Of course each responsible diver should protect the environment out of conviction and respect and not out of fear of one of the harsh penalties which are handed out in case of a violation of the rules. We instruct our instructors and guides to make sure that on excursions under their supervision, these rules are followed strictly. Many of them are voluntary park-rangers themselves and work actively in the field of environmental protection. We ask our guests to contribute to the efforts to keep the beauty of the underwaterworld around Dahab intact! |
